Currently in Philadelphia — November 22, 2023: Clearing up for Thanksgiving

Plus, some big news ... on the road to building a weather service for everyone.

The weather, currently.

Weather’s clearing up in time for Thanksgiving

It’s looking like the rain we had yesterday was just a one-day deal. We’ll likely have some leftover precipitation this morning, but the sky should clear up by the afternoon, and temperatures are expected to rebound as well, reaching a high of 61˚F. Thanksgiving Day will be quite sunny but also a little breezy and cold, with a high of 53˚F. I’m planning to pack a few layers, including a windbreaker, before heading to my relatives’ house. I prefer to remain immobile for several hours after finishing my turkey dinner, but my dad’s family likes to go birdwatching whenever we’re all together.

What you need to know, currently.

Some big news,

We just launched Currently Weather Service's first public offering! We’re hoping to raise $10,000 between now and Small Business Saturday. Your investment will make the difference in building Currently into a driving force for climate justice.

Starting at $100, you can become a direct investor in Currently and help us move forward with confidence.

We decided to partner with Honeycomb because they’re a platform that allows small businesses like us to raise money from our community instead of a bank. However, we’re not asking for donations like a Kickstarter or a GoFundMe - you actually get to invest in us — and you will own a part of the work we do together.

Thank you so much for supporting our important work to continue building an innovative personalized weather service for the climate emergency.

What you can do, currently.

Everyone deserves to thrive. Everyone is worthy of a better world. That’s why we’re building a weather service for the climate emergency.

Currently’s new weather service is now live. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be continually adding more features and opening up more slots as we develop the service.

But for now, space is limited in the weather service because I want to make sure we can provide the highest quality service we possibly can while we work to refine the system with your input.

If you’d like to put your name on the waiting list, be sure to fill out our baseline survey if you haven’t already which will hold your spot in line.

Our goal — as always — is to co-create the most personalized, most informative weather service that exists. And, above all, to make this service accessible, equitable, and resilient enough to bring safety and joy to the climate emergency.
