Currently in Philadelphia — October 12, 2023: Jacket weather, I guess
Plus, our new global warming reality, in one terrifying graph.
The weather, currently.
Jacket weather, I guess
It’s been unseasonably warm, but as far as I can tell, that hasn’t stopped people from bringing out their favorite jackets. Maybe Fall is a state of mind. Temperatures continue to rise, and today will likely be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 71°F. It’ll be mostly sunny, but not as clear as yesterday. Along with a small increase in humidity (to around 40%) will come some clouds, adding up to about 30% cloud cover. Stay tuned for colder weather this weekend, though.

What you need to know, currently.
A new comprehensive summary of September’s shocking global temperature record was published on Wednesday. It’s worth a read in its entirety — it give an overview of exactly what happened, why, and what we can expect over the coming year or so as a result.
I’ll leave it at that. This graph says it all.
We are in a climate emergency.
